Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Trichomoniasis

Chlamydia is one of the most common bacterial sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in the United States and can cause serious complications if not treated. Chlamydia testing identifies the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis as the cause of a person's infection. Screening for, diagnosing, and treating chlamydia is very important in preventing long-term complications and spread of the infection to others.

Gonorrhea is a common bacterial sexually transmitted disease (STD) that can cause serious complications if not detected and treated. Gonorrhea testing identifies if the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae is the cause of a person's infection. Screening for, diagnosing, and treating gonorrhea is very important in preventing long-term complications and spread of the infection to others.

Trichomonas vaginalis is a single cell (protozoan) parasite that cannot be seen by the naked eye (microscopic). It causes vaginal infections in women and, in men, infections of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body, and inflammation of the prostate (prostatitis). Trichomonas testing detects the parasite in samples from the vagina or penis to diagnose an infection.

HIV and Syphilis

An HIV infection may initially cause no symptoms or cause flu-like symptoms that resolve after a week or two. The only way to determine whether a person has been infected is through HIV testing.

If HIV is not detected early and treated, it may become a simmering infection that may cause few symptoms for a decade or more. If the infection is still not treated, eventually symptoms of AIDS emerge and begin to progressively worsen. Over time and without treatment, HIV destroys the immune system and leaves a person's body vulnerable to debilitating infections.

Syphilis is an infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum that is most often spread by sexual contact, such as through direct contact with a syphilis sore (chancre), a firm, raised, painless sore. The most common syphilis tests detect antibodies in the blood that are produced in response to a T. pallidum infection. Some methods that are used less commonly directly detect the bacterium or its genetic material (DNA).

Syphilis is easily treated with antibiotics but can cause severe health problems if left untreated. An infected mother can also pass the disease to her unborn child, with serious and potentially fatal consequences for the baby.

This test measures whether you have Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, HIV and / or Syphilis by taking a urine sample.

Let’s start with the diseases you’re most likely to come in contact with.

  • Gonorrhea cases have risen more than 80 percent in the past decade and often infects individuals in their early 20s. The disease is spread through sexual contact and can be transmitted from mother to newborn during childbirth.
  • Chlamydia is often cited as the most common STI in North America. The infection causes inflammation and pain and can even mess with your fertility. Getting a diagnosis on time is vital to preventing the disease from spreading.
  • Trichomoniasis is a problematic yet subtle STI with varied symptoms. Many infected individuals won’t know they have the disease without an explicit diagnosis that involves either a urine sample of a swab test.

All of these infections are treatable if caught early enough. Our at-home STI test can be completed in seconds and will save you a lot of pain and suffering.

Syphilis is a notoriously contagious disease that’s spread through sexual activity and close bodily contact. Infected mothers may pass the disease onto their children. Infected individuals sometimes don’t realize they have the disease.

The bacteria treponema pallidum is responsible for the infection, and despite major improvements with the invention of penicillin, the bacteria still infects many people each year.

You’ve probably heard of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Without treatment, it can result in AIDS, greatly reducing your body’s immune system strength and your life expectancy. HIV cannot be removed through treatment.

However, HIV can be controlled through ART medication that prolongs the patient’s lifespan and reduces the chance of the disease passing on to others.

We’ve created an easier way for you to test for these common STIs. One that doesn’t involve embarrassing trips to the doctor’s office, weeks spent waiting for test results, and the feeling of helplessness when you receive an unexpected diagnosis.
