A thyroid panel is a group of tests that may be ordered together to help evaluate thyroid gland function and to help diagnose thyroid disorders. The tests included in a thyroid panel measure the amount of thyroid hormones in the blood. These hormones are chemical substances that travel through the blood and control or regulate the body's metabolism—how it functions and uses energy.
Hemoglobin A1c, also called A1c or glycated hemoglobin, is hemoglobin with glucose attached. The A1c test evaluates the average amount of glucose in the blood over the last 2 to 3 months by measuring the percentage of glycated hemoglobin in the blood. An A1c test may be used to screen for and diagnose diabetes or risk of developing diabetes.

Cholesterol is a substance (a steroid) that is essential for life. It forms the membranes for cells in all organs and tissues in the body.

A small amount of cholesterol circulates in the blood in complex particles called lipoproteins. Each particle contains a combination of protein, cholesterol, triglyceride, and phospholipid molecules and the particles are classified by their density into high-density lipoproteins (HDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL). HDL-C particles, sometimes called "good" cholesterol, carry excess cholesterol away for disposal and LDL-C particles, or "bad" cholesterol, deposit cholesterol in tissues and organs. Monitoring and maintaining healthy levels of cholesterol is important for staying healthy. The extra cholesterol in the blood may be deposited in plaques on the walls of blood vessels. Plaques can narrow or eventually block the opening of blood vessels, leading to hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis) and increased risk of numerous health problems, including heart disease and stroke..

C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute phase reactant, a protein made by the liver and released into the blood within a few hours after tissue injury, the start of an infection, or other cause of inflammation. Markedly increased levels are observed, for example, after trauma or a heart attack, with active or uncontrolled autoimmune disorders, and with serious bacterial infections like sepsis. The level of CRP can jump as much as a thousand-fold in response to inflammatory conditions, and its rise in the blood can precede pain, fever, or other clinical indicators. The test measures the amount of CRP in the blood and can be valuable in detecting inflammation due to acute conditions or in monitoring disease activity in chronic conditions.

Vitamin D is a family of compounds that is essential for the proper growth and formation of teeth and bones. This test measures the level of vitamin D in the blood. The main role of vitamin D is to help regulate blood levels of calcium, phosphorus, and (to a lesser extent) magnesium. Vitamin D is vital for the growth and health of bone; without it, bones will be soft, malformed, and unable to repair themselves normally, resulting in diseases called rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. Vitamin D has also been shown to influence the growth and differentiation of many other tissues and to help regulate the immune system. These other functions have implicated vitamin D in other disorders, such as autoimmunity and cancer.

A liver panel is a group of tests that are performed together to detect, evaluate, and monitor liver disease or damage. The liver is one of the largest organs in the body and is located in the upper right-hand part of the abdomen and behind the lower ribs. The liver metabolizes and detoxifies drugs and substances that are harmful to the body. It produces blood clotting factors, proteins, and enzymes, helps maintain hormone balances, and stores vitamins and minerals. Bile, a fluid produced by the liver, is transported through ducts directly to the small intestine to help digest fats or to the gallbladder to be stored and concentrated for later use.

This test measures levels of Vitamin B12, Thyroid levels, levels of Calcium, Blood sugar levels, Cholesterol levels, levels of systemic inflammation, Vitamin D levels and tests for liver inflammation and damage all taken with a blood spot test.

The metabolic assessment test is a great way for you to gain a better understanding of your body, what it needs, and what it lacks.

Our metabolic panel helps you identify the following things:

  • Vitamin B12
  • Thyroid conditions
  • Calcium levels
  • HbA1c (blood sugar levels) for diabetes
  • Lipid and glucose levels for cholesterol
  • C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels for systemic inflammation
  • Vitamin D
  • Liver Health

Many of the diseases and conditions that this test can reveal often share similar symptoms. That can make it difficult for you to narrow down what you are experiencing. Being able to screen for all of these things using one test could be the difference in helping you diagnose a potential health problem.

You don’t have to be a medical expert to complete our at-home test. Screening yourself for all of the above conditions is as easy as ordering the kit and following the instructions.

Every kit comes complete with detailed instructions, a sample container, and any other materials that you’ll need to complete it. All you have to do is take a blood sample and place it inside of your sample container. After we receive your kit, our lab will analyze your sample and compile your test results.
