  • LDL

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL cholesterol, LDL-C) is one type of lipoprotein that carries cholesterol in the blood. LDL-C consists mostly of cholesterol and similar substances with a small amount of protein. Monitoring and maintaining healthy levels of lipids is important for staying healthy. Eating too much of foods that are high in saturated fats and trans unsaturated fats (trans fats) or having an inherited predisposition can result in a high level of cholesterol in the blood. The extra cholesterol may be deposited in plaques on the walls of blood vessels. Plaques can narrow or eventually block the opening of blood vessels, leading to hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis) and increased risk of numerous health problems, including heart disease and stroke

  • HDL

High-density lipoprotein (HDL cholesterol, HDL-C) is one of the classes of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol in the blood. HDL-C consists primarily of protein with a small amount of cholesterol. It is considered to be beneficial because it removes excess cholesterol from tissues and carries it to the liver for disposal. Hence, HDL cholesterol is often termed "good" cholesterol. The test for HDL cholesterol measures the amount of HDL-C in blood.

  • Triglycerides
  • Total Cholesterol

Triglycerides are a form of fat and a major source of energy for the body. This test measures the amount of triglycerides in the blood.

Most triglycerides are found in fat (adipose) tissue, but some triglycerides circulate in the blood to provide fuel for muscles to work. After a person eats, an increased level of triglycerides is found in the blood as the body converts the energy not needed right away into fat. Triglycerides move via the blood from the gut to adipose tissue for storage. In between meals, triglycerides are released from fat tissue to be used as an energy source for the body. Most triglycerides are carried in the blood by lipoproteins called very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL).

High levels of triglycerides in the blood are associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD), although the reason for this is not well understood. Certain factors can contribute to high triglyceride levels and to risk of CVD, including lack of exercise, being overweight, smoking cigarettes, consuming excess alcohol, and having medical conditions such as diabetes and kidney disease.

HbA1c

Hemoglobin A1c, also called A1c or glycated hemoglobin, is hemoglobin with glucose attached. The A1c test evaluates the average amount of glucose in the blood over the last 2 to 3 months by measuring the percentage of glycated hemoglobin in the blood. An A1c test may be used to screen for and diagnose diabetes or risk of developing diabetes.

C-Reactive Protein

This test will measure levels of good and bad cholesterol, levels of your blood sugar (no fasting required) Nicotine levels (for active smokers) and for systemic inflammation by taking a blood spot.

Triglycerides are a type of fat that is found in our blood. A healthy amount is normal, but those with high levels of them may be at risk for coronary artery disease. Our healthy heart test not only tests for them, but it also checks for cholesterol, glucose, and other compounds.

High-density lipoprotein are complex proteins that are used to transport fat throughout the body. They are often nicknamed the “good” type of cholesterol. An individual with high HDL levels will have an increased risk of heart disease

Low-density lipoprotein has the same functions of HDL, but is known as the “bad” cholesterol because it tends to lead to fatty buildup in your arteries and increases your risk for heart attacks, strokes, and other heart conditions.

Our blood test checks your levels for both of these lipoproteins, so you can better understand the health of your heart.

We designed the healthy heart test to provide you with a more efficient way to stay on top of your health. There’s no denying healthcare wait times are out of control.
